Free COVID-19 Self-Test Kits Offered to Community

A community drive-through distribution of COVID-19 self-test kits will be held from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 14 at the Physicians Pavilion on the William Newton Hospital campus. The Community Health Center in Cowley County has partnered with William Newton Hospital and the KU Medical Center COPE project to make self-test kits readily available when COVID-19 symptoms hit.

Trail Run Raises $8K for William Newton Hospital

Wheat State Wine Co. presented William Newton Healthcare Foundation with a check for $8,000 following the 10th annual Wine-O Trail Run in May. Wheat State Wine Co. hosts the run each year and donates a portion of the proceeds to William Newton Hospital.

William Newton Hospital achieves High 5 Premier status

William Newton Hospital has met all requirements to be named a High 5 for Mom & Baby Premier Facility. High 5 is a program offered by the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund which includes two levels. The general distinction requires at least five practices be implemented; the premier level means the hospital has committed to implementing all 10 best practices recognized by the program.

The inaugural Play for Paramedics Cornhole Tournament benefitting a new paramedic scholarship at Cowley College will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 at the Broadway Sports complex before the Midwest Moos collegiate baseball game. EagleMed Winfield has joined forces with William Newton Hospital, William Newton Healthcare Foundation, Cowley College EMS Education, Cowley College Foundation, Winfield Fire/EMS, and the Midwest Moos to host this fundraiser.

Junebug Jog Adds Cycling for 33rd Year

Registration is open for the Winfield community’s 33rd annual Junebug Jog & Ride events on Saturday, June 11 hosted by William Newton Hospital, Winfield Recreation Commission, and Walnut Valley Outpost. The hospital and recreation commission have joined forces with local bike shop Walnut Valley Outpost to offer an out-and-back 18-mile cycle with both gravel and paved options.
