Trail Run Raises $8K for William Newton Hospital
Jul 06, 2022
Wheat State Wine Co. presented William Newton Healthcare Foundation with a check for $8,000 following the 10th annual Wine-O Trail Run in May. Wheat State Wine Co. hosts the run each year and donates a portion of the proceeds to William Newton Hospital.
“We are privileged to have WSWCo. host this event for a decade now—their belief in and support for their local community hospital is impressive. It is a fun event too!” William Newton Healthcare Foundation Director Annika Morris said, “Plus, it’s a great excuse for a little fitness and a little indulgence. The event promotes health while also allowing people to be together and enjoy their local grapes.”
William Newton Healthcare Foundation provides philanthropic support to advance the mission and vision of William Newton Hospital as a community-based hospital serving local needs and enhancing the quality of life for area residents. These funds will benefit the Second Century Campaign, which supports William Newton Hospital’s long-term plan to expand facilities, meeting demands for access to healthcare in Cowley County and neighboring regions.
Chris Tyler, Wheat State Wine Co. owner and winemaker, reflected:
"People seemed to really look forward to the trail run. It is one of the largest events at the winery every year; our calendar partially revolves around it. We always enjoy hosting, and we are glad that people enjoy finding a fun way to support local healthcare."
This year’s event attracted 372 registrants from six states for its 10K run, 5K run, and 2-mile walk. Next year’s run is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023.
