The Second Century Campaign
William Newton Hospital is a hospital that was made possible ‘by the people’ who understood the important role it plays for a sustainable and robust community. Throughout its first century, our hospital’s identity is ‘of the people,’ who have served, been served, and supported its mission. Together, we have created a hospital that will be ‘for the people’ by ensuring it meets the growing demands of the increased number of patients served.
The Second Century Campaign, initiated in 2017, reflects on 90+ years of Hospital history and prepares for another 100 years of service. The campaign supports William Newton Hospital’s long-term plan to expand facilities, meeting demands for access to healthcare in Cowley County and neighboring regions.
The Hospital will leverage the philanthropic support generated by the campaign to recruit and retain skilled physicians and expand the types of services necessary to provide modern and preferred quality healthcare.

One little drop doesn't do much, but a little drop from many makes a bucket full. Small or large, every drop counts. Whether it's a monetary donation or planned estate gift, every drop counts towards ensuring our community has access to care for generations to come.

Phase 1: Surgery Center Expansion
Phase 1 was completed in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit our area. The H. L. Snyder Medical Foundation Surgery Center namesake symbolizes a dedication to healthcare excellence and gratitude for the generosity of the H. L. Snyder Medical Foundation. The surgery center is located on the first floor of the hospital. It includes four operating rooms, an orthopedic surgery suite, pre/post operative care, a cardiovascular catheterization lab, two waiting rooms, two consult rooms, and a chapel.

Phase 2: Emergency Department Expansion
Although it is not yet in its public phase, planning for Phase 2 is underway. Phase 2 will expand and upgrade WNH’s emergency department. Plans include a separate emergency entrance, private rooms, easier access to updated equipment, and a break room and updated nurses station for staff. WNH employees have already begun supporting the emergency department expansion financially, raising over $99,000 to date.
Next steps: Architects will be chosen for the emergency department expansion and will work closely with ER staff to develop an improved experience for all staff, patients, and visitors.
In the meantime, the Beats Go On community wellness initiative has begun as a way to engage with the community and provide education on our area’s biggest health concerns.Join the Beats!
