William Newton Wound Healing Center is a thriving center providing care for many types of wounds, and is able to assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages. 

The multi-disciplinary team is designed to complement your physicians' services and is made up of professionals including:

Your Wound Healing Center

When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing. Associated with inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds lead to lower quality of life and may lead to amputations.

That’s where the William Newton Wound Healing Center can help. With state-of-the-art treatments available, people with non-healing and chronic wounds now have a place to turn, without the hassle of driving to a larger city. The Center uses an interdisciplinary model of care, including infectious-disease management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory evaluation, nutritional management, pain management, diabetes education, and other areas to address total patient health. 

The wound healing team is dedicated to treating wounds such as:     

• Diabetic Neuropathic foot wounds   
• Pressure Injury Ulcers   
• Venous Insufficiency Ulcers   
• Traumatic wounds   
• Spider bite wounds   
• Surgical wounds

What to Expect During Your First Appointment

Patients are mostly referred by their primary care physician, but self-referrals are also accepted. Specialized wound care is usually administered on an outpatient basis. Patients are free to drive themselves to the Center for therapy.

Your First Appointment 

At your initial appointment, we will conduct a full assessment to evaluate your wound, overall health status, and ability to comply with needed therapies. The assessment will identify the type of wound you have and the underlying problems causing the wound. Diagnostic testing may include laboratory evaluation,  radiology (including MRI), vascular studies/electrocardiogram, or ultrasound.  

Your Personalized Plan of Care

Based on your evaluation, a customized treatment plan is developed to optimize the therapies best suited to address your needs. Your plan of care is specifically tailored to you and is based on the most effective treatment options. Wound size and depth will be documented each visit. 

To provide the maximum healing possible, a multi-disciplinary team designed to complement your physicians’ services may include other physicians with advanced training in wound management, nursing staff trained in chronic wound care, technicians who perform non-invasive studies and various therapies, and experienced staff to assist with appointments, medical records, and health insurance processing.

Treatment Methods 

Our Center employs the most technologically advanced wound care therapy, including debridement, topical wound therapy, growth-factor therapy, tissue therapy, dressing selection, special shoes, and patient education. Advanced treatments can range from antimicrobial bandages, amniotic membrane tissue grafts, synthetic skin grafts, sharp debridement, surgical interventions, or negative pressure wound vacuum therapy.
