Accommodations

At William Newton Hospital you and your family will enjoy private rooms.

Room Temperature
The room temperature in all patient rooms can be adjusted within the limitations of the hospital's heating and cooling systems. If your room temperature is not comfortable, please notify the staff.

Your Hospital Bed
Hospital beds are electrically operated, and your nurse or aide will show you how to work the bed properly. Your hospital bed is probably higher and narrower than your bed at home.

Bed rails are generally not left in the up position unless requested by a patient. Exceptions include the immediate post-operative period, during transport, or when ordered by the physician as a restraint.

Calling Your Nurse
A button to call your nurse or aide is located at your bedside. When you press the button, the nursing station is alerted that you need assistance, and a light flashes above your door. Every effort will be made to answer your call promptly.

During the Night
As much as possible, please stay in bed after you have retired for the night. Strange surroundings and medications may create a hazard if you get out of bed. For assistance during the night, use your call button.

Television
Television sets are provided at no additional charge in each room. Please be considerate of other patients by keeping the volume set at a low level and by turning off your set at bedtime.

Telephones
Telephones are provided in each room, except in the Intensive Care Unit. Patients may receive calls in their rooms between 7 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Calls received after 8:30 p.m. will be directed to the appropriate nursing station and forwarded at the nursing staff's discretion.

Local calls may be made at any time from the room by dialing 9 and the number. Long distance, credit card, and toll calls can be placed through the switchboard operator by dialing 0. Calls cannot be charged to your room.

Wireless Internet Access
Patients and guests can access the Internet in select locations of the main hospital building. Connect to WNMH Public in the Snack Bar/Gift Shop, patient rooms on 2nd East, and the waiting areas of the Main Lobby, Surgery, Ambulatory Care, 2nd Center, and the Family Birthing Center.
